🎕 Are Amazing Gifts
Once again, it’s that time of the week. Is it just us or is time flying by? We hope you’re all well out there. We don’t know about you but Christmas fever is beginning to hit the streets in Gibraltar. Already, most of the shops have Christmas decorations in their windows and things are taking on a new look in the run up to the jolly season.
As far as we’re concerned, it’s a jolly season all year round. As long as we have couples coming into Gibraltar to get married, we feel like it’s Christmas every day. There is nothing more magical than love and you making us a part of your special day, as your wedding planners of choice, is the icing on the cake. It’s the best gift we could ever receive.
If you haven’t got married yet and you’re planning to get married abroad, why not choose us as your destination planner. We can really make things go very smoothly for you. You don’t have to take our word for it. You can just read through all the testimonials we have on our Facebook page.
Today, though, we wanted to talk flowers. Flowers always add a touch of romance to any love story. They brighten up people’s days. They help to say sorry. Flowers are amazing gifts of beauty given to us by mother nature, and of course every bride wants to have a beautiful bouquet on her wedding day.
Here’s a curiosity for you. How many people out there actually know how and why a bouquet of flowers got introduced into the marriage ceremony. This is one of those trivial facts that isn’t really common knowledge.
History has it that, originally, many many moons ago, in fact during the time of the plague, brides use to walk down the aisle carrying a bunch of dill and a load of garlic. It’s thought that these herbs had the ability to protect the carrier from the plague itself. Whether it worked, or not, is unknown. However, slowly but surely, as things improved, brides started to incorporate herbs that smelled sweeter, until eventually herbs and garlic were replaced by flowers. These flowers, in actual fact, were to disguise the bad smell of body odor from poor hygienic standards.
Nowadays, we don’t have that problem. Running water is readily available and no bride needs to disguise any smells what so ever. So, flowers are just a beautiful addition to the marriage ceremony. All our wedding packages include flowers and each flower has a different meaning. Perhaps we should write a blog about the different meanings of flowers. All you have to do is tell us what colour you would like and we’ll provide you with the perfect bouquet to match your style.
